Profile & Story

Donnafugata is a leading Sicilian winery founded by the Rallo family, known for pairing Sicilian tradition with an artistic, storytelling sensibility on its labels (this cuvee's label depicts the dancing figure 'Sherazade'). The wine is produced from 100% Nero d'Avola grown in southwestern Sicily, primarily on the Contessa Entellina estate. It is aged in tank for at least 6 months, followed by a further minimum of 6 months of bottle aging before release. ABV is 13.5% vol, with total acidity of 5.8 g/L and pH 3.43.

Tasting Notes

Brilliant ruby red with purple tints. The nose shows notes of red fruits (raspberry) and plum, accompanied by delicate spicy hints. On the palate it is fruity with prominent freshness and smoothness from soft tannins.

Pairing Recommendation

Recommended with fish soups, pizza, or spaghetti with tomato sauce; also good with roast beef. Best served lightly chilled at 15-16C in medium-sized wineglasses.
