Profile & Story

Michele Satta is a pioneering estate in Bolgheri, Tuscany, credited as one of the winemakers who helped establish the appellation's modern reputation. This Bolgheri Rosso DOC is described by the estate as its freshest and lightest red, made to showcase drinkability alongside complexity without excessive maturation or extraction. The blend is 30% Sangiovese, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, 10% Syrah and 10% Teroldego, sourced from the Torre, Vignanova, Poderini and Campastrello vineyards, harvested from early September (Merlot) through early October (Cabernet Sauvignon). Fermentation takes place in steel and cement tanks with spontaneous yeasts, with two daily pump-overs adjusted through extraction; malolactic fermentation occurs naturally in November. The wine matures for 12 months split between 30 hl cement casks and second/third-passage barriques, with an estimated longevity of about 10 years.
