Podere Castorani (Castorani estate) spans about 75 acres in the province of Pescara, Italy, between Majella National Park and the Adriatic Sea, with over 200 years of history; Formula 1 driver Jarno Trulli took over stewardship of the estate in 1999. The venue's menu lists simply "Castorani" Montepulciano d'Abruzzo, which the estate's current entry-level DOC bottling is the "Cadetto": 100% Montepulciano, 13% ABV, fermented at 28°C with pump-overs and skin maceration exceeding 14 days in large vats, then aged 12 months (30% in oak barrels, 70% in vats) with complete malolactic fermentation, from hand-harvested fruit (October) yielding 12 t/ha.
