Teruzzi (Teruzzi & Puthod) was founded in 1974 by engineer-turned-winemaker Enrico Teruzzi and his wife Carmen in San Gimignano, Tuscany; acquired by Terra Moretti in 2016. The estate holds the largest expanse of Vernaccia vines in the appellation. This 100% Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG (the 'Isola Bianca' bottling) is sourced from a selection of estate vineyards, harvested mid-September, made with pellicular maceration in the press and soft pressing, then aged 4-5 months in temperature-controlled stainless steel plus 3-4 months in bottle. ABV is 12.5%.
Tasting Notes
On the nose, fruity notes blend with the mineral hints typical of the variety; straw-yellow with greenish reflections. The palate is enjoyable, showing good complexity and balance between acidity, body and length, with an aftertaste of almond giving a slightly bitter finish.
