La Rioja Alta, S.A., founded in 1890 in the Barrio de la Estación of Haro, is one of Rioja's classic houses. Gran Reserva 890 is its flagship — a traditional, long-aged Gran Reserva of Tempranillo with Graciano and Mazuelo.
Tasting Notes
Clean and bright, intense garnet with delicate brick-red edges. Notes of raisins and candied black plums blend with cedar, tea leaf, cinnamon, dark chocolate, vanilla, pepper and nutmeg from long barrel and bottle ageing. On the palate it balances the elegance and power of its tannins with refined freshness, finishing broad and intense with lingering balsamic and sweet-spice notes.
