Profile & Story

SCEA Domaine Guy Baudin et Fils farms at Les Loges in Pouilly-sur-Loire, a family holding whose records reach back to 1685 and a silver tastevin engraved by an ancestor. Guy Baudin took over three hectares in 1969 and was joined by his son Lilian in 2012 to form the present company, worked today alongside his brother Yvan and Lilian's wife Christelle across twelve hectares, eleven of them in Pouilly-Fume. Fume du Milieu is a vieilles vignes bottling of 100% Sauvignon Blanc, hand-harvested and deliberately kept out of barrel so that it stays fresh and ready to drink on release. The vines are grown without synthetic pesticides, fertilisers or herbicides.

Tasting Notes

A textbook Pouilly-Fume nose of freshly cut grass, gooseberry and minerality. The palate sits at the lighter end of medium-bodied, with good texture, ripe citrus fruit and a layer of smoky minerals.

Pairing Recommendation

Its tangy green-apple note makes it an especially good match for scallops, classic goat cheese and poultry dishes.
