Profile & Story
Rodney Strong Vineyards has been family owned for more than 60 years and farms 1,158 acres of estate vineyards across Sonoma County. When Rod Strong acquired benchland on Westside Road, he left untouched 15 acres of gnarled Zinfandel vines planted in 1904; the winery still harvests those old vines alongside vineyards it farms in the Alexander and Dry Creek Valleys. The 2021 is 100% Zinfandel, aged 14 months in 40% new French oak and bottled at 14% alcohol by winemaker Justin Seidenfeld.
Tasting Notes
Fresh, bright berry fruit from the heritage old vines meets ripe, peppery jam from warmer sites, bringing notes of blackberry, plum and boysenberry with a touch of red fruit jam and creamy vanilla.
