Gene and Katie Trefethen purchased the historic Eshcol winery estate in Napa Valley's Oak Knoll District in 1968, and the family still farms and runs it today. Chardonnay was the winery's first international success: its 1976 Chardonnay was named the best in the world at the 1979 Gault Millau World Wine Olympics in Paris, helping put Napa Valley on the map. This estate-grown Chardonnay reflects the cool climate of the Oak Knoll District, with the family's signature brightness and balance.
