Profile & Story
Founded in Reims in 1851, Champagne Charles Heidsieck built its reputation on an unusually generous use of reserve wines. The non-vintage Brut Reserve is assembled from around sixty crus across Champagne, anchored by three founding crus: Grand Cru Chardonnay from Oger in the Cote des Blancs, Grand Cru Pinot Noir from Ambonnay in the Montagne de Reims, and Meunier from Verneuil in the Vallee de la Marne. Reserve wines make up roughly 50% of the blend, averaging about ten years of age, aged in the house's chalk cellars beneath Reims.
Tasting Notes
An elegant, complex nose of freshly baked brioche, roasted notes and ripe sun-kissed fruit -- mango, apricot, mirabelle plum -- with dried fruit, pistachio and almond; the palate is unctuous and generous, with precision and depth.
