Profile & Story
Giovanni Ederle founded his eponymous estate on the San Mattia hillside above Verona at just 18, uprooting an old vineyard to replant it himself; the property has been certified organic since 2016. The Amarone della Valpolicella is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and Croatina, hand-harvested in mid-September and dried on mats for four months before a slow 30-40 day fermentation and 18 months' aging in French oak tonneaux plus one to two years in bottle. ABV is 16%.
Tasting Notes
Intense garnet red with vibrant ruby highlights; aromas of alcohol-soaked cherries, blackberry, violet, rose and licorice lead to a warm, rounded palate with marked but polished tannins, good minerality and a persistent finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Steak, aged cheeses and rich braised meats.
