Weingut Joh. Jos. Christoffel Erben is a historic family estate in Urzig on the Mosel, farming vines -- many over 100 years old, on their original rootstock -- on the steep red-slate Urziger Wurzgarten, one of the Mittel Mosel's most celebrated sites. The house style favors clarity and freshness: whole-cluster pressing, slow cool fermentation in traditional fuder casks, early racking off the gross lees and early bottling to preserve fruit purity and Mosel typicity.
Tasting Notes
Aromas of orange blossom and orange zest, ripe apricot, white peach and candied ginger, with a hint of crushed slate and the variety's classic, subtle petrol note; fresh and lively on the palate, with limey acidity balancing a gentle, well-integrated sweetness through a long finish.
