So let's really dive deep into the DNA of this wine. Firstly you will find more than a few percent of Neanderthal. As in the rest of us, this gritty beast barely shows. The grape is arrogantly from Southern France, so perhaps not the city-slicker type of “gay Paris”, more of a throwback to ancient times. Think warring Celtic tribes invading ancient Rome. The Celts, like this wine, were apparently very individualistic, colorful, but possessed the mastery of many arts. In Paso Robles it has mellowed out a little and perhaps gives a bit more fruit. Sure to spark a very rich oral tradition, again, not unlike the Canny Celts.
