Bonny Doon Vineyard, founded by Randall Grahm in the Santa Cruz Mountains, is known for iconoclastic Rhone-inspired blends. Le Cigare Orange is its skin-contact white cuvee, an unusual five-grape blend of Grenache Blanc, Pinot Gris, Grenache Gris, Orange Muscat and Chenin Blanc given roughly two weeks on the skins before pressing to stainless steel.

Tasting Notes

Deep amber-orange color; aromatic notes of tangerine peel, apricot and honeysuckle with vibrant acidity and a textured, savory finish from the skin contact.

Spiced or aromatic dishes -- Thai or Vietnamese food, roast chicken with citrus, or firm washed-rind cheeses.
