Profile & Story
Joao Portugal Ramos is Portugal's best-known winemaker, an internationally acclaimed oenologist who built his own project around the Vila Santa estate near Estremoz in the Alentejo, on limestone and schist soils. This bottling (known on the estate as Loios Red) is a blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira and other traditional Alentejo red varieties, crushed and de-stemmed with a 24-hour maceration in rotative tanks, then fermented at controlled temperature in stainless steel to keep the wine fresh and fruit-forward. 13.5% ABV. Made to be enjoyed young.
Tasting Notes
Ruby red with violet hints. A fresh, intensely fruity aroma of red fruit with subtle vegetal undertones. Soft and approachable on the palate, with smooth tannins leading to a balanced, pleasant finish.
