Profile & Story
La Reserve Saint Dominique is a selection of Southern Rhone crus created by Eric Bonnet, winemaker at La Bastide Saint Dominique in Courthezon, to complement the range he makes at his own estate; most of the cuvees are aged in stainless steel to keep the fruit fresh and crunchy. This Gigondas is 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah and 10% Mourvedre from south-facing hillsides on more or less stony clay soils. Gigondas is a Grenache-led cru of the Southern Rhone.
Tasting Notes
Deep ruby, with an intense nose of strawberry jam, black olive and brown spices, then smoky, mineral notes. The attack is round and fruity, finishing silky and dense with good length.
Pairing Recommendation
Pork cheek stewed in tomato sauce, grey partridge or jugged hare.
