Profile & Story
Abbazia di Novacella is a 12th-century Augustinian monastery and working winery in the Valle Isarco, Alto Adige, farming organic vineyards that climb above 2,600 feet, less than 30 miles from the Brenner Pass. Kerner is a white grape bred in 1929 from Trollinger (Schiava Grossa) and Riesling, well suited to Sudtirol's cool climate; the wine is vinified and aged entirely in stainless steel to preserve its floral, fresh character.
Tasting Notes
Delicately floral with a whiff of sweet spice and candied lime; aromas recalling citrus, Spanish broom, hay and botanical herb, with flavors of tangy mandarin orange and juicy peach.
