Fabrizio Iuli, a self-described "Barberista," farms 14 of the family's 43 hectares in Montaldo di Cerrina, Monferrato -- a valley the Iuli family has owned and planted almost exclusively for four generations and never treated with chemicals. Rossore, first produced in 1998, is 100% Barbera from south-facing parcels planted 1985-1990 at 350 meters on calcareous clay soil; destemmed and fermented spontaneously in cement with 21-28 days of maceration, then aged 24 months in large 17-25 hL barrels and a further 6 months in bottle.
