Xavier Weisskopf founded Le Rocher des Violettes in 2005 in Montlouis-sur-Loire, across the river from Vouvray, after training in Chablis and Beaune and working at Château de Saint Cosme in Gigondas. He farms roughly 9 hectares of old, pre-WWII Chenin Blanc vines, certified organic, aiming to let these historic sites express themselves with minimal intervention; some cuvées are bottled as Vin de France following recent appellation reclassification.
Tasting Notes
A dry expression of old-vine Chenin Blanc from the Loire's Montlouis area, typically showing quince, white flower, and wet-stone aromatics with the variety's characteristic waxy texture and firm, chalky acidity carrying through a long finish.
