Winkl is a juicy, delicately fruity and mineral Sauvignon Blanc that Cantina Terlan has produced as a varietal wine since 1956. Grown on quartz-porphyry volcanic bedrock with light, sandy-loam soils, it is hand-harvested and gently pressed, slowly fermented in stainless steel, and aged on the lees for 7–8 months (80% stainless steel, 20% large wooden barrels).
Tasting Notes
Intense straw yellow with a delicate green shimmer. Ripe aromas of apricot, mandarin and passion fruit mingle with elderflower, gooseberry and mint. On the palate the fruitiness combines with fine acidity, good structure and a mineral yet aromatic finish.
Pairing Recommendation
Serve at 10–12 °C. Suggested pairings include white asparagus, tuna carpaccio, smoked salmon, raw langoustines, poached trout with vegetables and young goat's cheese.
