Bodegas LAN was founded in 1972 and takes its name from the initials of Rioja's three historic provinces - Logrono, Alava and Navarra. The winery pioneered a hybrid-oak ageing technique using barrels built with American oak staves and French oak heads, now a signature of its style. This Crianza is sourced from vineyards across Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa on chalky clay soils and is 96% Tempranillo and 4% Mazuelo; after roughly 15 days of skin contact, it ages about 18 months in the hybrid American/French oak barrels followed by nine months rounding out in bottle before release.
