Lagar de Costa is a family estate in the Val do Salnés, Rías Baixas, now run by fourth-generation winemaker Sonia Costa — better known for Albariño, but Viva la Vid-a is her rare red made entirely from Espadeiro, one of Galicia's oldest and least-planted native varieties, sourced from vines 30 to 200 years old and aged in barrel before bottling unclarified and unfiltered.
Tasting Notes
Pale, luminous cherry-red in the glass, with red cherry, forest floor, licorice and a hint of coffee, light-bodied with bright acidity and integrated tannins reflecting its cool, Atlantic-edge vineyards.
