Hana Makgeolli is an artisanal Korean rice-wine brewery in Greenpoint, Brooklyn - the first Korean rice-wine brewery in New York. Takju is a samyangju (three-stage fermented) rice wine made exclusively from organic medium-grain white rice, organic sweet (glutinous) white rice, nuruk (traditional Korean wild-fermentation starter) and filtered New York water.
Tasting Notes
Coarsely filtered, near-dry and undiluted at 16% abv; dry and medium-bodied with a floral, almost melon-like nose and a lively effervescence balanced by naturally occurring lactic acidity. Fermented to dryness over four weeks and bottle-conditioned for fine bubbles. Served as a 3 oz pour.
