Profile & Story

Babylonstoren is a working fruit and wine farm in the Franschhoek Valley, Western Cape, and one of the best-preserved Cape Dutch estates in South Africa, farmed on the slopes of the Simonsberg Mountain between Franschhoek, Stellenbosch, and Paarl on Klapmuts/Longlands soils of Malmesbury shale origin. Cellarmaster Charl Coetzee first fermented the estate's rosé in 2011 as an exploration of Mourvèdre — at the time an uncommon grape for rosé — and it has since become the estate's signature pink wine.

Tasting Notes

Light pink salmon in color, with strawberries and rose petals on the nose. The palate carries a hint of watermelon and crushed pomegranate, rounded off with fresh acidity for a dry, unwooded, medium-bodied, lingering finish.

Pairing Recommendation

The perfect partner with trout, salmon, or sushi.
