Rivers-Marie farms across the coastal extremes of Sonoma County, drawing fruit from a constellation of small vineyards — Riddle, Bearwallow, Silver Eagle, Occidental Ridge, Joy Road, Bodega Thieriot, and Summa — on the belief that their wines are products of place first and foremost. Based in Calistoga, the Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir sees zero to little new oak so the fruit shows site and varietal first.

Tasting Notes

Dark crimson in color, the wine opens with the classic Occidental/Freestone aromas of pomegranate, cut hay, lavender, and sweetgrass; juicy and concentrated on the palate, it drinks well young but has shown the ability to age fifteen years or more.
