Profile & Story

Agricola Marrone traces back to 1910 in La Morra, in the heart of the Langhe, when Pietro Marrone began cultivating vineyards with then-revolutionary quality-first techniques. His son Carlo expanded the estate after the Second World War, and the third generation, Gian Piero Marrone, broadened the range beyond Nebbiolo to include Arneis, Favorita and Moscato while building the winery's international reach. Today Gian Piero's three daughters run the estate: Valentina as winemaker, Serena in administration and international markets, and Denise in hospitality and the German market. This Langhe Arneis, Tre Fie — "three daughters" in Piedmontese dialect — comes from northeast-facing vines planted in 1975 at 310 meters, on calcareous soil rich in quartz sand and fine limestone. The grapes are picked at full ripeness, chilled to 6°C on arrival, given 6-8 hours of cold skin contact, then fermented in steel.

Tasting Notes

Plump and peachy on the nose with a touch of hazelnut. The palate is creamy and full-bodied, with a fresh line of liquorice, ripe peach and noyaux — an unexpected, delicious combination.

Pairing Recommendation

Pairs well with a roasted root-vegetable winter salad in a tarragon dressing, a fish pie, or a fresh kohlrabi slaw.
