Profile & Story

Nicolas Potel, who grew up in a family devoted to wine and built international experience before striking out on his own, founded Maison Roche de Bellene in 2008, naming it for Bellene, the historic name of the town of Beaune. This Bourgogne Pinot Noir (Cuvée Réserve) is sourced from old-vine parcels, ranging from 30 to 80 years old, across the Côte de Beaune and the Côte de Nuits and Côte Chalonnaise, farmed sustainably by the growers Potel works with. Roughly 80% of the wine is aged in barrique, with the remainder in stainless steel, in keeping with the house's pure, low-intervention style.

Pairing Recommendation

Versatile with lighter fare — light enough for salmon, but complex enough for duck confit, mushroom risotto, grilled trout or gnocchi with ricotta.
