Profile & Story

Champagne Stéphane Coquillette is a family grower estate in Chouilly, a Grand Cru village of the Côte des Blancs, now in its fourth generation — the founder's grandmother was the first female Champagne producer in Chouilly, and the family continues to farm, harvest, press, vinify and bottle every wine themselves as independent growers (Récoltant-Manipulant). The vineyards sit on barely 30 centimeters of arable soil over chalk bedrock, which acts like a sponge, absorbing rainfall and releasing moisture through dry spells. Farming is reasoned and largely organic — organic-certified fertilizers, minimal herbicide use, cover crops and bark mulch to limit erosion — with the estate working toward HVE (Haute Valeur Environnementale) certification. Inflorescence is a non-vintage Brut cuvée from this estate, made with the family's low-dosage, hands-on philosophy.

Tasting Notes

Grower Champagne Brut cuvées from Chouilly, grown on the chalk soils of the Côte des Blancs, typically show a fine, persistent mousse with citrus and orchard-fruit character, a chalky minerality, and a dry, precise finish reflecting a low dosage.
