Cutwater Spirits was founded in San Diego by master distiller Yuseff Cherney, who began distilling as a hobby in the back of his brewery, custom-building his first pot still from an old beer fermenter. That experimentation led him to craft rum, vodka, gin, and whiskey before Cutwater grew into its own award-winning craft spirits brand. Yuseff and his team went on to pioneer the canned classic cocktail category, aiming to make quality, meticulously distilled cocktails accessible for casual, outdoor occasions like fishing, hiking, and backyard gatherings. The company describes itself as a crew of "explorers, charting the course with adventure in mind," and continues to develop and refine its spirits and cocktail recipes at its San Diego production facility.
