Profile & Story
Bottled as Reserve Pinot Noir Cuvee Griffin, this wine comes from Block 2 (Pommard clone) of Griffin's Lair Vineyard in the Petaluma Gap, Sonoma Coast. One lot is destemmed and fermented warm in oak for jammy character, another ferments with 13% whole cluster at cool temperature in stainless steel for aromatic complexity; both age 18 months in 100% French oak, with only 169 cases produced.
Tasting Notes
Forest floor and mushroom aromatics with herbaceous complexity lead into a palate that explodes with jammy black cherry and baking spice, silky in texture, finishing with red plums and cherry pie filling and lingering vanilla.
