Profile & Story
Founded in 2002 by Vasco Croft, a pioneer of biodynamic viticulture in Portugal, Aphros farms centuries-old Loureiro and Vinhao vines in Vinho Verde. The Phaunus Pet Nat Rose is a 50/50 blend of Alvarelhao and Vinhao from a south-facing, biodynamic plot; grapes are briefly macerated on the skins, fermentation begins in stainless steel and finishes in bottle by the ancestral method with no added yeast or sugar, disgorged after five months on the lees without filtration.
Tasting Notes
Fruity and frothy, the wine shows early-season strawberries and cream on the nose, followed by an electric rush of sour-cherry and cranberry-tinged fruit on the palate.
