Can Sumoi is the Penedes project of Pepe Raventos (of Raventos i Blanc) and Francesc Escala, based on farmland dating to 1645 in the Montmell mountains of the Baix Penedes, dedicated to reviving native, near-forgotten varieties such as Sumoll through organic, minimal-intervention winemaking. This cuvee is a blend of Garnatxa and Sumoll from vines aged 15 to 48 years, grown on poor, stony calcareous soils at 400-600 meters, hand-harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts, then aged mostly in stainless steel with a small portion in chestnut barrels, without oenological additives.
