Profile & Story

Tenuta Fanti is a family-owned estate located in Castelnuovo dell’Abate, in the southern area of Montalcino, Tuscany, an exceptional terroir for Sangiovese. The Fanti family has been closely connected to this land for generations, with the first Brunello di Montalcino produced in 1980. The estate covers approximately 123 acres of vineyards, primarily planted with Sangiovese, spread across different slopes and altitudes ranging from 490 to 1,410 feet above sea level. This diversity allows Tenuta Fanti to craft wines that combine structure, freshness, elegance, and a clear expression of origin. Viticulture is carried out with a strong focus on sustainability, biodiversity, and vineyard balance. Vinification and aging are managed with precision and respect for tradition, with individual vineyard parcels vinified separately and aged in a combination of large oak casks, tonneaux, and barriques. Tenuta Fanti is best known for its Brunello di Montalcino, alongside Rosso di Montalcino, Sant’Antimo DOC wines, and a limited production of Vin Santo and extra virgin olive oil, all reflecting authenticity, craftsmanship, and a deep connection to the territory.

Tasting Notes

Color: intense and brilliant ruby red. Aroma: intense and persistent bouquet, dominated by ripe red fruit notes of sour cherries, cherries, and black cherries — both sweet and slightly bitter — as well as blackcurrant. Elegant citrus hints of blood orange peel emerge. As the wine evolves in the glass, the fruity component is accompanied by the spicy aromas of white pepper and ginger, completing a complex and harmonious aromatic profile. Taste: delicate and elegant tannins, well integrated into the wine’s structure. The fruity component, consistent with the nose, is initially predominant, then gradually gives way to balsamic notes of rhubarb. The palate is fresh, with a pleasant minerality and a balanced, long-lasting finish.

Pairing Recommendation

This Rosso di Montalcino pairs well with grilled or roasted meats, pasta dishes with tomato-based sauces, and charcuterie. Its fresh acidity, delicate tannins, and lively fruit also make it an excellent match for Tuscan comfort food, poultry, and semi-aged cheeses.
