Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Borgo Scopeto 2016
2016, UGA Vagliagli, Tuscany, Italy

About the Wine
Chianti Classico Gran Selezione is born from a focused selection of Borgo Scopeto’s finest Sangiovese grapes, sourced exclusively from the most prestigious vineyards and produced only in the best vintages. The vineyard sits at an elevation between 360 and 450 meters above sea level, with optimal exposure and exceptional soil composition that impart typicity to the wine. The winery’s historic estate once belonged to the Sozzini dynasty and has since been transformed into a luxury Relais in the Chianti Classico area. Manual harvesting is followed by alcoholic fermentation lasting 10 days at 28°C, complemented by délestage and pump-overs. The wine then remains in contact with the skins for an additional 10 days due to their excellent quality. Malolactic fermentation occurs spontaneously, and the wine is partially aged in wood.

Tasting Notes
Full and intense, with an integrated bouquet of small black berries, noble wood notes like vanilla, cocoa, and liquorice, forming an enigmatic complexity. Dry, well-structured, combining austerity and elegance: the acidity is well balanced to a texture of intense but very fine tannins. Long aftertaste.
