Profile & Story

Hanzell Vineyards is a historic winery on Moon Mountain in Sonoma Valley, California, founded in 1953 by former US ambassador James D. Zellerbach with the vision of making Burgundian-style Chardonnay and Pinot Noir in California; owned and managed by the de Brye family since 1975. The Sebella Chardonnay is 100% Chardonnay, CCOF Certified Organic, sourced entirely from Hanzell's own estate vineyards at an average vine age of 17 years, on Red Hill Series volcanic and Raynor-Montara soils at 415 to 600 feet elevation. Native-yeast fermented in stainless steel with no malolactic fermentation, then aged six months in neutral French oak; 13.2% ABV.

Tasting Notes

Bursting with aromas of orange blossom, honeysuckle, mango, lemon verbena, lime zest and a lifted chalky minerality; the palate offers pear, tangerine, lime, Meyer lemon and kumquat carried on a textured, buoyant, juicy, long finish.
