Profile & Story

Founded in 1972, Bisci is rooted in the forward-thinking vision of Giuseppe and Pierino Bisci, who relied on the expert advice of local farmers - true connoisseurs of the Marche hills - and it was they who identified Fogliano Alto as the premier site for Verdicchio di Matelica, thanks to its combination of altitude, exposure and soil. The estate is a mosaic of 25 hectares, with 18 hectares of Verdicchio and 2 of Sangiovese and Merlot, farmed under organic protocols certified by CCPB. 'Vigneto Fogliano' is drawn from a meticulous selection of grapes from the best and oldest vineyard on the estate, from which it takes its name: 4 hectares planted in 1978 on calcareous clay with southern exposure. Made from 100% Verdicchio di Matelica, it is a wine of remarkable structure that stands out for its longevity and reaches its maximum expression after several years of refinement in bottle. Fermentation takes place in glazed cement vats under controlled temperature, followed by maturation in vitrified cement for around 15 months and a minimum of four months in bottle. Certified organic (CCPB) from the 2019 vintage.

Tasting Notes

Straw yellow with green reflections. The nose is floral and fruity, intense and complex, with notes of chlorophyll. On the palate it shows great structure - intense, savoury and persistent.

Pairing Recommendation

Bisci recommends serving at 12 C.
