Profile & Story

Freire Lobo is based in Oliveira do Hospital, in the demarcated Dao region, with a simple working philosophy: to create authentic wines that faithfully mirror their origin. The house works exclusively with traditional Portuguese grape varieties of the Dao, farming vineyards at 560 to 600 metres on sandy granite soils with sustainable and organic practices in favour of soil health and biodiversity. In the cellar intervention is minimal - grapes are selected in the vineyard, fermentation runs on indigenous yeasts, and ancient methods such as stone lagares are used. Freire Lobo VIGNO White is a blend of indigenous Dao varieties: Encruzado, Bical, Cerceal, Fernao Pires and Barcelo. It is made without any barrel influence, in order to highlight the characteristics of the grape varieties in this magnificent terroir.

Tasting Notes

A delicate, light and harmonious wine, reflecting the granite that is so typical of this region.
