Profile & Story
La Caravelle Champagne is the project of Rita Jammet, who with her husband Andre owned and ran the celebrated New York French restaurant La Caravelle - described by The New York Times as a French legend and a taste of Paris in Manhattan. After the restaurant closed in 2004, Rita pursued her passion for Champagne and began marketing and distributing La Caravelle Champagne, work for which she was awarded France's Order of Agricultural Merit. The Rose is built on the same base wine as the house's Cuvee Nina, with 9% still Pinot Noir blended in. It is aged for three years on the lees and draws on reserve wines held in solera, and is available in 750ml bottles.
Tasting Notes
A beautiful, delicate salmon pink with fine, generous bubbles. The nose is subtle and elegant, showing notes of strawberry marmalade. On the palate there is fleshy cherry and almond - elegant and round, with freshness.
Pairing Recommendation
A harmonious blend, ideal as an aperitif and equally at home across an entire menu of salmon, shellfish, meats, red berries and desserts.
