Profile & Story
Since 1968 Laurent-Perrier has developed the mastery of a rare know-how in Champagne: the maceration of Pinot Noir. That year, at a time when rose champagne was not in vogue, Bernard de Nonancourt launched Cuvee Rose in its distinctive shield bottle, paving the way for a new generation of champagnes and giving the category its noble credentials by choosing a maceration rose. The wine is 100% Pinot Noir drawn from ten different Crus in the Montagne de Reims. Grapes from carefully selected plots are sorted and destemmed before vatting, and a maceration lasting 48 to 72 hours depending on the harvest extracts colour and unequalled aromas. The wine is then aged for five years.
Tasting Notes
Elegant, with the colour changing naturally from a pretty raspberry hue to salmon pink. The nose is precise, of extraordinary freshness, with a wide range of red fruits: raspberry, redcurrant, strawberry and black cherry. A fresh and sharp attack leads into a supple, rounded wine that offers the sensation of plunging into a basket of freshly picked red berries.
Pairing Recommendation
Laurent-Perrier suggests exotic and Asian cuisine, marinated fish, Parma ham, Chaource cheese and red-fruit desserts.
