Feudi Branciforti dei Bordonaro, a Firriato project, farms Tenuta Gelso Grande in the Trapani countryside of Sicily, between Mount Erice and the Egadi islands, on soft hills rising to 300–400 meters. The estate's philosophy centers on quality-driven winemaking that blends tradition with attention to both native and international grape varieties, guided by sustainable farming practices. The Rosato is the only blend in the Branciforti dei Bordonaro range, combining the power of Nero d'Avola with the spicy intensity of Merlot, and grew out of the estate's exploration of native and non-native grapes grown in Sicily. Classified Terre Siciliane IGT, it comes from clayey vineyard soils in the Trapani countryside, with the Nero d'Avola planted on a south-facing block and the Merlot on a north-facing block, both at 300 meters, trained on Guyot espalier. The two varieties are hand-picked at different times — Nero d'Avola in the last decade of August, Merlot in the last decade of September — to respect each grape's own ripening schedule. Following soft pressing, the wine ferments at a controlled 24°C for 8 to 10 days and is bottle-aged for one month, reaching 12.5% alcohol.
