Prosper Maufoux is a historic Burgundy wine house founded in 1860, housed today in the Château de Saint-Aubin on the Route des Grands Crus, in the heart of the celebrated wine region south of Beaune. The estate farms nine hectares of vines, mostly Chardonnay, under sustainable, HVE3-certified viticulture across prestigious terroirs including Saint-Aubin, Meursault, Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-Montrachet, and its wines are shaped by a modern, non-interventionist philosophy of slow extractions and gentle vinification aimed at elegance, finesse and character. This Meursault 1er Cru comes from the climat La Pièce Sous le Bois, in the Côte de Beaune, a vineyard sitting atop the hill overlooking Meursault and Puligny-Montrachet in the Hameau de Blagny at 330 meters of elevation, where the soil is extremely chalky over white marl. The vines, covering a 40-ouvrée plot, were planted in 1959 and partially replanted in 2010. The grapes are whole-bunch pressed with a 24-hour static settling of the juice at 12°C, then fermented in barrel and aged for fourteen months in French oak, lightly toasted so-called blonde barrels, thirty percent of them new.

Recommended with poultry and festive poultry such as duck, guinea fowl and turkey, with fish dishes, and with soft cheeses such as Brie, Camembert and Comté.
