Profile & Story

Château Gaudin has been a family farm in Pauillac since 1901, now in its fifth generation. The estate's vines grow on the gravelly hilltops of the village of Saint-Lambert, sharing this terroir with some of the Médoc's most celebrated vineyards; the gravel soils drain well and retain heat, ripening the fruit fully under the Pauillac sun. The blend is built around old vines averaging 45 years of age — 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Merlot, and 5% Carménère, Malbec and Petit Verdot — and the estate continues to harvest and sort its grapes by hand, working to preserve traditional know-how while refining it with modern technique. The wine is aged for 15 months in French oak barrels, half of them new, and is intended for cellaring of 8 to 10 years to reach its peak.
