Castel Faglia is a family winery established in 1989 in Calino, a hamlet of Cazzago San Martino, in the heart of Franciacorta, Lombardy. It takes its name from the castle of its former owner, Colonel Umberto Faglia, and its vineyards sit on a moraine hill roughly 300 meters above sea level, on terraces well exposed to the sun. The estate embraces sustainable, eco-friendly farming and careful management of water and energy, with hands-on production that runs from hand-harvesting through gentle pressing that retains only the free-run must (mosto fiore) for its Franciacorta wines. Castel Faglia produces four styles — Franciacorta, Franciacorta Satèn, Franciacorta Rosé, and Franciacorta Millesimato — with the Monogram line representing the estate's premium cuvée range, aged longer than the base wines (a minimum of 24 months on the lees for Satèn and Rosé, and more for the Millesimati). The Monogram Franciacorta Brut Satèn is a non-vintage bottling made in the Satèn style: a Franciacorta produced from Chardonnay and disgorged at a lower pressure than standard Brut for an especially soft, creamy mousse, aged a minimum of 24 months on the lees per the estate's production standards.
