Krug is a Champagne house built on the philosophy that every wine it makes should be its finest possible expression, regardless of vintage conditions. Grande Cuvée, its signature non-vintage blend, is composed each year from a large number of individual wines drawn from many different vintages, built around the character of a single harvest and completed with a substantial proportion of wines from the house's reserve library. The 171ème Édition is centered on the 2015 harvest and blends 131 wines from twelve different years, the youngest from 2015 and the oldest dating back to 2000; reserve wines make up 42% of the final blend. The final composition is 45% Pinot Noir, 37% Chardonnay, and 18% Meunier.
