Weingut Peter Jakob Kühn is a family estate in Oestrich in the Rheingau, founded in 1786 and now run by the twelfth generation, Peter Bernhard Kühn and his wife Viktoria. The estate farms 21 hectares across the top vineyard sites of Oestrich, including Doosberg, Klosterberg, and Lenchen, and is regarded as one of the most individualistic producers in German Riesling. Riesling from the Rheingau generally combines ripe orchard and stone-fruit character with the region's characteristic minerality and racy acidity; wines from a top single vineyard like Lenchen range from bone-dry (trocken) village and Grosses Gewächs bottlings to sweeter Kabinett and Auslese styles. The Lenchen Riesling poured by the glass here is understood to be a dry expression of this vineyard, though the exact bottling could not be confirmed against the estate's current offerings.
