Riecine Chianti Classico Sangiovese 2023

Profile & Story

Riecine is an estate in the northernmost part of Gaiole in Chianti, founded in 1971 by John Dunkley, who purchased 1.5 hectares from the monastery at Badia a Coltibuono and began making Sangiovese-based wine that same year. The property sits at relatively high elevation, between 480 and 600 meters, on soils divided between limestone, schist, and clay. The vineyards have since grown to more than 20 hectares, all certified organic. Riecine's Chianti Classico is made from Sangiovese grown on this high-altitude, mixed-soil terroir.
