Profile & Story

In 2015, an unprecedented collaborative project began between Viña San Pedro and the Mapuche community of Buchahueico in the town of Purén, in the Araucanía Region. This public–private initiative involved the initial planting of 15 hectares of premium-quality Pinot Noir on community land in the Malleco Valley. Today, the project totals 22.5 hectares, all planted with Pinot Noir.

Tasting Notes

Color: Medium intensity Burgundy colour. Nose: Great character and identity with upfront. notes of local herbs like peppermint and paico, followed by notes of lavender, and then tart red fruit like cherries, finishing with earthy notes reminiscent of grilled mushrooms. Palate: Juicy, with earthy and leafy notes coming through again; very fresh, with vibrant, racy acidity that reveals the effect of the granitic soil, along with a firm texture lending the wine strength and a long finish in the mouth.
