Profile & Story
Casa Yagüe is a family-run project born in Patagonia, where everyday life, production, and landscape come together naturally. Located near Trevelin, the farm is much more than a vineyard: it is a living space where things are grown, cooked, shared, and experienced. The story begins with the decision to inhabit this land and develop it as a whole, respecting the rhythms of nature and its surroundings. Over time, that connection gave rise to the vineyard, planted in a distinctive cool-climate terroir that brings freshness, natural acidity, and remarkable aromatic expression to the wines. At Casa Yagüe, we work on a human scale, with a thoughtful approach both in the vineyard and in the winery. The winemaking process seeks minimal intervention so that each wine can express its origin: carefully timed harvests, controlled fermentations, and aging that enhances without overshadowing. Our wines reflect the character of Patagonia: elegant, fresh, and authentic. But Casa Yagüe is not only about wine. It is also about hospitality, gastronomy, and experiences designed to connect visitors with the place: guided visits, tastings, meals, and stays surrounded by nature.
Tasting Notes
From Trevelin, Patagonia, Río Frío is a distinctive blend of Pinot Noir and Cabernet Franc, with a higher proportion of Pinot. A rare combination, that finds its natural expression here, in a cool-climate environment with wide thermal amplitude and slow ripening, allowing both varieties to harmonize in a single wine. Each variety is vinified separately, using carbonic maceration to enhance aromatic intensity and fruit expression, followed by controlled fermentation. The wine is then aged for 8 months in French oak barrels toasted with volcanic stones, adding complexity while preserving its identity. The result is a highly aromatic wine, with notes of fresh red fruit, a juicy profile, and a balanced structure with good acidity and body. Oak influence is very subtle, allowing freshness and sense of place to take the lead. An expressive, elegant, and authentic wine that reflects the spirit of Patagonia—made to be enjoyed and shared.
Pairing Recommendation
Its juicy profile, fresh acidity, and subtle structure make it extremely versatile at the table. It pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted poultry, pork, and lighter red meats. It also works very well with dishes featuring mushrooms, roasted vegetables, and herbs, which enhance its earthy and aromatic notes. Great with charcuterie and medium-aged cheeses, as well as dishes that balance freshness and richness—like pasta with tomato-based sauces or lightly spiced preparations. Slightly chilled, it becomes an ideal wine for relaxed meals and shared moments.
