Profile & Story

Gran Enemigo El Cepillo is one of four Single Vineyard Cabernet Franc wines crafted by Alejandro Vigil. Each wine features the same blend—85% Cabernet Franc and 15% Malbec—and follows an identical vinification process and aging time, highlighting their shared DNA. The distinction arises from the unique soil types and altitudes of their origins, showcasing the variety's transparency and its ability to reflect the nuances of each terroir. For El Cepillo, Alejandro focuses on the singular character of Cordón El Cepillo's colluvial soils with marine limestone layers beneath. The vineyard was planted in 2005 and sits at the southernmost edge of the Uco Valley. Previous vintages have consistently received outstanding ratings, ranging from 95 to 99 points, from top critics and publications, including James Suckling and Wine Advocate. It was featured in James Suckling's Top 100 Wines of 2024, recognized as the Best Bordeaux Blend in Tim Atkin's Report, and awarded Best Cabernet Franc in the Descorchados Report.

Tasting Notes

A breathtaking expression of Uco Valley Cabernet Franc, this wine opens with intense aromas of black licorice, blackberry, and iodine, layered with hints of mountain herbs and spice. The palate is dense yet finessed, with fierce, chalky tannins, vibrant acidity, and a deep mineral core. A wild, energetic wine shaped by El Cepillo’s glacial soils and high-altitude climate, it finishes long, composed, and full of origin. Built to age beautifully.

Pairing Recommendation

Meat pairing: Chicken curry with spinach and rice. Vegetarian option: Culurgiones with Burrata and Tomato: creamy burrata and fresh tomato wrapped in pasta, served with a smooth garlic cream, leeks oil, and crispy fried bread.
