Profile & Story

A Malbec with unique personality. The result of a unique terroir. It is a single-vineyard wine from the "Finca de los Viñedos Imposibles". The name of the vineyard reflects the difficulty of viticulture at 8000 feet (Yes, eight thousand. Not a typo) of elevation in the Andes mountains. Located in the Pucara district of the Angastaco region of the Calchaqui Valleys of Salta, Argentina. A mesmerizing landscape. Decomposed granite soils. Tiny yields per acre that result in character, strength, vibrancy and complexity.

Tasting Notes

The nose is of a superb complexity. It changes as you inspire. It makes me wish I had bigger lungs. Last year I spoke of the choreography of the different elements of the nose of this wine. And I’ll repeat the same words this year, because I can find nothing better: Not only myriad sensations, but all working in tandem with each other. Fruit, spices, rocks, more fruit, flowers. The mouth is overpowering. Imposibles takes over. It never saturates, but rather displays. The same metaphor of the choreography applies here. And the length is incredible. Easily the longest in mouth of all our wines this year! With no aspect dominating. Incredibly balanced to the end. Imposibles is a Malbec from Pucará, in the Angastaco region of the Calchaquí Valley of Salta. Extreme NW Argentina. Where you are so close to the sky that you can touch it, at an elevation of 7200 feet. Two thirds of the fruit are from the Alto Cardones block, on decomposed granite. One third is from the Campo La Guardia block, whose soil is ferrous red clay. Together they create this marvel. A wine to contemplate. Before a meal. Or after.
