Maquis Franco
2021, Palmilla, Colchagua, Chile
Profile & Story
Maquis Franco has been the highest rated cabernet franc in Chile by the top publications for more than a decade. It is fresh, elegant and very unique.
Tasting Notes
Composed of 91% Cabernet Franc and 9% Cabernet Sauvignon, the 2021 Franco opens with a minty, dusty, red-fruited bouquet that combines lifted, expressive energy with a deep, savory undercurrent. The palate is effortlessly rich yet supremely elegant, showcasing deft precision while still allowing the wine to feel authentic and not over-engineered. It concludes with a snappy, structured energy that expands during the long, refined finish, framed by silty tannins and impressive persistence. This wine continuously grew in intensity and depth with aeration, and judging by the performance of numerous older vintages tasted alongside, it should drink wonderfully into its second decade. Pairing Recommendation
Probably the finest wine in Chile to drink with lamb, it has the finesse and freshness to even go well together with white fish.
